20 questions every teacher should ask themselves in 2020

Reflection is an annual event for most teachers, but this year, it’s more important than ever.

Having been thrown into remote teaching or partial remote teaching and having to rely more heavily on edtech, the answers to these questions could define how we think about and approach teaching practice for years to come:

1. What is your proudest achievement during the crisis?
2. What surprised you?
3. What did the crisis confirm for you?
4. What worked?
5. What didn’t work?
6. What challenges did your students face?
7. What successes did your students have?
8. What is one new tool, strategy, or resource that you are bringing with you into next year?
9. How have your relationships with students changed?
10. How will your classroom approach change as a result of this?
11. How have your relationships with your students’ parents changed?
12. What do you wish you’d known at the start of all this?
13. When students reflect on this time, what do you think they’ll say?
14. What was the most valuable thing you learned this year?
